Description:
The WIC Peer Counseling Program provides breastfeeding support to WIC clients. This supervisory position travels to all InterCare WIC locations and mentors 9-11 peer counselors and provides routine follow-up, guidance, and on-going supervision. Provides training on breastfeeding practices, breastfeeding promotion protection and support. Encourages positive attitudes towards breastfeeding and promotes the benefits of breastfeeding to staff and WIC clients through educational materials, monthly meetings and coordinating additional community resources.
Requirements:
Requirements include Lactation Certified Educator and RD or RD eligible, and breastfeeding advocacy experience preferably in a WIC environment.

Requirements:
High school diploma (GED) and excellent communication skills with the ability to problem solve are required. Candidates must be empathic peers of other breastfeeding mothers able to build trust and be flexible in availability. Some positions require bilingual (English/Spanish) fluency.
