National Health Center Week 2011
Each year, the second week of August is known as "National Health Center Week". This week is dedicated to recognizing the ongoing services of Community Health Centers around the nation. Community Health Centers provide access to affordable, high quality, cost-effective health care to medically vulnerable and underserved people in the U.S. This year will mark the 46th anniversary of the creation of the Health Centers program.
To help get NHCW off to a good start, Congressman Fred Upton made a visit to InterCare's newest site in Benton Harbor. CEO Velma Hendershott gave Congressman Upton a tour of the new building as well as presented him with the 2011 Distinguished Community Health Defender Award.
InterCare Community Health Network will celebrate National Health Center Week with screenings, educational seminars, and numerous giveaways. Please check the InterCare events calendar for event times and locations.
