Expanded Services at Holland Facility

Odalis Miedema, M.D. and Elizabeth Jones, PA-C, have recently joined InterCare Community Health Network's family medical practice at 285 James Street in Holland. They join Dr. Lana Zarlenga and Dr. Margaret Gold at this InterCare location.

Dr. Miedema was formerly in practice at Community Health Center in Holland where she also served as medical director. She is certified by the American Board of Family Practice Physicians having completed a residency in family medicine at St. Mary's Mercy Center in Grand Rapids.

Elizabeth Jones most recently worked with hospitalized patients at Spectrum's Blodgett and Butterworth facilities. She previously was employed at Holland 's Community Health Center on a part-time basis. Ms. Jones received her master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Grand Valley State University and became certified by the National Commission of Physician Assistants in 2002.

The recent growth in the medical staff at InterCare's Holland office practice is part of an expansion plan that began earlier this year with the renovation and addition of 3500 square feet of space to its existing medical practice. InterCare is a non-profit organization that operates six primary care practices in west and southwest Michigan in keeping with its mission to expand access to health care to the underserved. The organization serves a sizeable Medicaid and uninsured population and is designated as a “community and migrant health center” by the federal Public Health Service. At its Holland location last year, InterCare provided medical care to approximately 3500 community residents and migrant farmworkers. Services available there include a full range of bi-lingual medical, dental, prenatal, and nutrition services. Also members of InterCare's Holland medical staff are Jennifer Moes, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, and Julia Ludwig, Certified Nurse Midwife.

InterCare's Holland expansion plan also recently included the full-time addition of Dr. Priya Banahatti. Dr. Banahatti is a board certified dentist who joins William Riggert, DDS at InterCare's dental program at the same address. Dr. Banahatti received her dental degree from Tufts University in Boston and completed additional graduate training in dentistry at the University of Michigan . InterCare's dental services at its Holland facility include cleanings, exams, extractions, fillings, and dentures. Dental hygiene services are provided by Christine Sandera, Registered Dental Hygienist.
