InterCare Community Health Network is pleased to announce that Dr. Mark OBrien, a dual-certified pediatrician and internal medicine physician has joined its Benton Harbor practice. In making the announcement, Velma Hendershott, CEO of InterCare, welcomed Dr. OBriens addition as an important step in maintaining InterCares capacity for improving access to high quality primary care services in a traditionally underserved community. Dr. OBrien joins four other physicians at InterCares Benton Harbor practice, including Dr. Barbara Boyd, Dr. Lisa Fink, Dr. Don Tynes, and Dr. Susan Weinstein.
Dr. OBrien is a Michigan native who received both his under-graduate and medical degrees from the University of Michigan. He completed a combined residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics from Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois and has practiced medicine in Community Health Center settings in Indiana, Appalachia, Virginia and Kalamazoo. Dr. OBrian is certified by the American Boards of Pediatrics and Adult Medicine.
InterCares Benton Harbor location has been a fixture in that community since 1985, offering a full range of medical, dental, and support services first on Main Street and then in a larger facility at the Mercy Center on Pipestone. InterCares mission is to provide high quality, comprehensive primary care services to anyone in need, regardless of insurance or ability to pay. The non-profit organization has five medical and dental sites in southwest Michigan. InterCare also offers a sliding fee program based on family size and income for those whose access to health care is limited for financial reasons. Individuals with Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance are also welcome.
InterCares Benton Harbor health center is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. 5:30 p.m. Appointments can be made by calling 269/927-5400.
