Health Coverage Options
Affordable Care Act
The Affordable Care Act, often called Obamacare or health care reform, generally has one open enrollment period a year. This year open enrollment is November 1 through December 15, 2017. This is a very short window compared to other years. After that date you can still enroll in the ACA if you have a life changing event, such as the birth of a child. You also still have insurance opportunities that you are able to enroll in.
To assist you in this process, and find out what is currently available to you, InterCare has hired enrollment specialists who can answer any questions you have and help you with the enrollment process. They can be reached toll-free at (855) 405-0182, and can assist you in English or Spanish.

Healthy Michigan Plan
The Healthy Michigan Plan was created to provide health insurance coverage for low income residents in Michigan. It covers more people in our state, and reduces the number of people who have no insurance. It is estimated that close to half a million people are eligible for the Healthy Michigan Plan.
Who is eligible for the Healthy Michigan Plan? People ages 19-64 who are not currently eligible for Medicare or Medicaid. Your income must be at or below 133% of the poverty level. You cannot enroll in the plan if you are pregnant at the time of enrollment. (Pregnant women are eligible for a different Medicaid program.)
What services are covered with the Healthy Michigan Plan? The plan must cover the ten essential health care services - including emergency care and hospital stays, doctor visits, mental health, and prescriptions. It will be health care for the things you need.
Will it cost you anything? Yes. As with most health insurance programs, there will be co-pay amounts and monthly costs. These amounts will depend on your income level. Also, if you engage in healthy behaviors, you may be able to reduce your costs.
