Maternal Infant Health Program

MIHPMIHP stands for Maternal Infant Health Program. This FREE program is designed to help you – as an expecting mom – and your new baby, receive help and support when you need it most. With one half hour visit a month at your home at a time that works for you, we can help your baby get the best start possible! Some of the things we provide include:

  • Ages & Stages Questionnaire
  • Tips & Activities to keep your baby’s development on track
  • Help setting up mileage reimbursement
  • Assistance with housing and transportation difficulties
  • DHS/Food Stamps/Medicaid

MIHP is designed for people enrolled in Medicaid. If you are not currently enrolled, we can assist you in enrolling in the program, as well as in other helpful programs.

Services are provided by licensed social workers, registered nurses, and dieticians. These professionals are able to provide support in health, nutrition, counseling, and help finding community resources. They will come to your home, at a time that works for you.  We have staff members that speak both English and Spanish.

  • Pregnancy discomfort
  • Childbirth education
  • Nutritional concerns
  • Diabetes education
  • Stress management
  • Mileage reimbursement
  • Housing and transportation issues
  • DHS/Food stamps/Medicaid applications
  • Finding items for the baby

 Once the baby is born, we can help with:

  • Education in basic infant care and safety
  • Monitoring the baby’s growth and development
  • Tips and activities to keep the baby’s development on track
  • Feeding and nutrition support
  • Breastfeeding support
  • Information on how to care for a special-needs child
  • Parenting classes
  • Birth control information
  • Establishing paternity
  • DHS/WIC/Medicaid
  • Finding items for the baby
  • Transportation referrals

InterCare is certified by the Michigan Department of Community Health to provide in-home support MIHP services for pregnant women, new mothers, and infants on Medicaid (or MOMS).
