Insurance & Sliding Fees
Billings & Payments
At InterCare, we know that paying for medical and dental services can be a burden. We try to work with all patients to help them receive the care they need. InterCare has specialists at each of our health centers to help you understand your bill. If needed, our specialists will always try to help set up a payment plan for you or to help you apply for our sliding fee program (see below).
InterCare expects payment at time of service. We accept most kinds of insurance, including Medicare and Medicaid. We will bill your insurance as a service to you, but you must have correct and current insurance information with you when you check in at the front desk. Without this, we may not be able to bill your insurance company, and you could be billed for the visit or be asked to reschedule your appointment. Please help us reduce the cost of care to you by bringing your insurance cards for you and your family to every visit.
InterCare strongly believes in providing health care even if you cannot pay in full. However, all patients are expected to follow our financial policies and make payments as required. The phone number of our central billing office is 269.427.7937.
Insurance
InterCare will bill your insurance for you, but it is very important that you bring your updated insurance information to every visit. You will also need to pay your insurance co-pay if you have one.
If you enroll in our sliding fee program, you will need to pay a minimum fee for your medical and dental visits as well as some discounted rates for lab services, and prescription drugs.
If you are unable to pay the full amount at the time of your visit, your balance will be put on account, and our financial staff will work with you to set up a payment plan that works for you.
Sliding Fee Program
InterCare's sliding fee program helps you get medical and dental services at our health centers at less cost to you. This is made possible by a federal grant. If you qualify for our sliding fee program, you will be asked to pay a flat fee or a percent of your charges depending on the discount you qualify for. Eligibility for the program is based on your family size and income. Anyone may apply. To be eligible, however, you MUST fill out a form and provide proof of income.
Due to federal regulations, we are unable to provide this federal assistance to you without proof of income or a signed statement that you cannot pay.
The federal Medicare program says that community and migrant health centers like InterCare may also offer our sliding fee rates to Medicare patients to help pay for any co-payments and deductibles not covered by Medicare. If you are on Medicare please ask at our front desk about how our sliding fee program can help you.
